The excellent website Flashy Maths has a nice interactive game involving factorising quadratic expressions. A nice interface, and you can also download this to play offline for a bigger and better version.

The Flashy Maths website has a good interactive game called Fraction Matcher, where 2 teams pit their wits against each other and match equivalent fractions. You can also download this and play it offline.

There is a lovely game on the excellent Flashy Maths website called simply Bearings, where you have to enter the bearing on which the boat should travel to rescue the drowning person (okay, so the person has a rubber ring and isn’t exactly drowning, but hey!). You can download it so that it works offline too.

The website Flashy Maths has a really nice game about transforming shapes called Transformation Station. The level of difficulty increases as you gain more points. Really nice interface - great for lesson starter or plenary. You can also save this game as a flash application to run offline.

At the Hayward Gallery at the moment there is a fantastic free exhibition of crocheted hyperbolic forms.

I love puzzles, and a fantastic website is www.conceptispuzzles.com which contains lots of interactive Japanese logic puzzles.

Enigma puzzles are based on the following rules:

• Link each number to another of the same number by the same number of squares (ie. pair up same numbers) by drawing a pathway.
• No pathways can cross and no numbers can be used more than once.
• Shade this pathway so that the result gives a picture.

I am running in the Race for Life in Regents Park in London on 19th July. This is to raise money for Cancer Research.  I have decided to try and raise money in this way, as I find running very challenging, but that is nothing compared to the challenges faced by anyone that has been affected by Cancer.
